🚨CRIME SCENE: PROMISES KILLED HERE
6 years. Zero animal welfare reform.

While the @EU_Commission delays, millions of animals remain in cages and millions of male chicks are killed at birth.
@OliverVarhelyi, do your job: ban cages, end chick killing. #YourDelayTheirSuffering
⚠️WHO KILLED THE ANIMAL WELFARE REFORM?
The victim: a promise to 1.4 million citizens.
The evidence: years of delays.
The consequence: millions of animals in cages and chicks killed as “waste”.
@OliverVarhelyi citizens deserve answers. #YourDelayTheirSuffering @EU_Commission
🚧 DO NOT CROSS – CRIME SCENE
Here lies the animal welfare reform promised years ago.
Years of delays. Millions of animals still trapped in cages and chicks still killed at birth.
@OliverVarhelyi, stop the excuses. Deliver the reform. #YourDelayTheirSuffering @EU_Commission
🚨Investigation update:
The animal welfare reform remains missing
Last seen after promises to 1.4 million citizens. Since then: years of delays.
Meanwhile, millions of animals continue to suffer.
@OliverVarhelyi, time to do your job! #YourDelayTheirSuffering @EU_Commission
⚠️ Evidence collected:
❌ No cage ban
❌ No end to chick killing
❌ No animal welfare reform
Yet millions of animals continue to suffer every day.
@OliverVarhelyi, the “crime scene” is clear. The time for action is now. #YourDelayTheirSuffering @EU_Commission

Crime Scene: a promise made to 1.4 million citizens

CORPO DELLA MAIL

Commissioner Varhelyi,

I am writing to express my deep frustration at the continued failure to deliver the animal welfare reform promised to European citizens.

In 2021, the European Commission committed to act. Since then, year after year, deadlines have passed, promises have been repeated, and meaningful action has failed to materialise.

Meanwhile, the victims of these delays are not political reputations or institutional timelines. They are millions of animals.

Across the EU, millions of animals remain confined in cages. Millions of male chicks continue to be killed at birth, treated as waste by an industry that prioritises profit over animal welfare.

A promise was made to 1.4 million citizens who supported the End the Cage Age initiative. Yet that promise remains unfulfilled.

As Commissioner responsible for Health and Animal Welfare, you have the responsibility to ensure that these commitments are finally translated into concrete legislation. Citizens do not need more announcements or further delays. They need action.

I urge you to ensure that the upcoming animal welfare reform includes a binding phase-out of cages and a ban on the killing of male chicks, with clear timelines and enforceable measures.

The time for postponement is over. Every delay means more suffering.
I, like many other citizens, will continue to demand the change that was promised. The European Union must now deliver.

Sincerely,
